I have a 94 mustang, and yesterday i had it running with the hood up and all the sudden the grounding strap off of the moter broke and cought on fire, i dodnt know they could even do that!!!
what the heck ccould cause it to do that?
it wouldnt run for a while , would start then stall, but now for some reason it starts and runs just fine even with the grounding strap burnt in half?
Any one have any insight for me???
Thanks !

I wouldn't think it's safe till you figure out why. Have you checked the battery cables to see if the plastic has melted? Was there oil or grease on the strap that could have caught fire and just burned the strap in to from a grease fire?

there was a little oil on it bit i dont think that there was enuff to catch fire, ir was more of less just residue, but the strap was almost cut in two before it cought fire, could that be the problem, not ebnuff wire to ground and it shorted it into a fire!???????
thanks
