does current add?

When installing DEI remote starts, my manager at Circuit City states that you should run one 10ga wire with 2 fusable links in parallel.  He states that if you put a thirty amp fuse in each link,  the total current, after the links rejoin into a single 10ga wire, will be 60amps.  Is this true?  I personally do not think that current adds,  so it shoult still be 30amps after the links.Chris

Jeff, I think he means putting two 30A fuses in parallel together, in-line, to equal a single 60A fuse, in which case, this will work, since the current is divided between the two fused links.This is done in the same manner as running, say, a pair of 8AWG cables from battery to trunk, when a single 4AWG isn't available. I've seen this done a few times by folks trying to save money or who couldn't fine a place to stuff 4AWG unseen.Things like that. They just join the smaller wires together at both ends (battery and amp)Just be sure you don't branch to other things from just one of the fused links. re-join them to a single feed after the fuse-holders, and they are cummulative.-GlassWolf
