I have a 99 ford F250 desiel. I am looking for the tach wire that is in the cab I have tried the wht wire with pink stripebehind the instrument cluster. The owner install a banks aftermarket kit on the engine and there is no room to work under the hood. where is easy spot to hook up the tach wire? Is there a tach signal at the data port plug in and what color is it.

What is the ac voltage that i should see?

Look for a white / pink wire at the backside of the instrument cluster, it will measure in ac volts.

I hooked it up to the white with pink behind the instrument cluster and it does not work.

would it matter if it has the added computer that is for the banks aftermarket kit.

Does the stock tach still work? If so it has to be getting a signal from somewhere. Did your white / pink wire measure in ac volts and if so how many volts when the engine is idling and revving. You may also go to the coil pack if it is accessable. One of my shop notes also show a white / red wire may also be present, meter this lead if is there.
