roof mount EQ rack

I am putting together a roof rack EQ mount for a pair of Audio Control EQT's and my Crossover. It is going over the back seat of my Jeep Cherokee. I have the glassing all figured out and the eq's and x-over are going to be flush-mounted into the rack. the only prob i have is finishing. I want to wrap it with vynel -- where do i get the material from,?? and what is the best way to stick it on?? I also want to finish my kicks the same way, as well as custom sub boxes i am building.

You should be able to find some vinyl at a fabric store or any of your local upolstery shops.As for the adhesive I would use 3M's Super 77 spray adhesive which you should find at Wal-Mart if you have one near you,if not most but not all auto parts stores may also have it.

use the super 77, is one way, i would recommend stretching it and using staples or some form of fastening device, similar to how you would upolster a chair or something...just so that it looks good, the problem with the glue is that it only sticks to itself, so you have to apply it on both surfaces and depending on the fabric you use you may get some funny looking air pockets and things. 

just before you start applying it, test the fabric, but I would secure it with more than just adhesive, also if you do staple, use a thin cardboard strip (also sold precut at most fabric stores) to staple to, just so it doesn't rip around the staple and gives a stronger hold.

Another option for gluing the vinyl down, is this stuff by Dap....it slips my mind what it is exactly called, but I know it is sold at home Depot and comes in 1 gallon containers...the problem is, is it's made for a spray gun that hooks up to an aircompressor....But it works Hellagood!!

As far as the Vinyl goes...Check out Select Products: http://www.selectproducts.com  ( they also sell glue to use )

Also if you have any sharp curves or tight bends that you are wrapping....use a heat gun on low heat...and I mean low heat, and keep the gun atleast a foot if not more away from the vinyl....don't wanna scorch it do ya..you can also use a little hook tool to press the vinyl in tight spots...just please make sure you are using the back of the hook and not the actual hook....otherwise...whoops sux to be you, you just tore your vinyl.

And like Glasswolf said...you're gonna have a big bundle of wires to run up and down the a-pillars...you will lose some signal so be warned...what you might wanna do is find a way to run the rca's up the a-pillars going to the eq's and x-over...and than run them to the back of the vehicle than down, instead of going back down the a-pillars....but it depends on how much work you wanna do..it also depends on where you got your amps at...

As for the rcs's, I already have the length requires for the roof mount (the excess is just wrapped up for the time being) and I will have a total of 4 rca sets ( 1 in 3 out) and power grnd, rem wires. I have already planned on running each their own pillar... input from front . sub down middle of one side, mids, tweets down other, and power, ground and rem right from the back hatch area (since that is where my dist blocks are gonna be). The only delema i am having about that is cutting a hole in the headliner for the wires (since the eq pod will not go right to the edge of roof), but i have already hacked up enough stuff in this jeep that it is hardly worth saving the headliner. The one idea i had was making a tunnel out of glass from the pod to the roof light and run the wires there, since there is a hole already inder the light..... but no.
