Can anyone tell me how I can tell if I have neg or pos. door trigger is there a way I can test these wires

First off, what kind of car do you have? Most vehicles have negative trigger, with the general exception of most older model Fords and some others which I can't remember. You can test the wires going to your doorpins or domelight, but it'd be easier to just look up wiring info for your particular car.

Your door trigger should be negative, and it should be a purple wire at the light switch.

You can test those wires with a DMM.
