I just installed a new Alpine stereo in my Tahoe.  Instead of dealing with the hassle of bypassing the Onstar, factory amp, etc.  I just ran new wires from the factory speakers to the Alpine unit.  Also, seperate power wires and ground.  All I have done to the vehicle is unplugged the stock radio, removed it, and tucked the factory harnesses out of the way.   But now I have no cruise control or brake lights. Does removing the stock radio have anything to do with these problems?

Disconnecting the radio won't affect either of those options. Check all your wiring for your new radio. You may have blown fuses or tied into a wire you shouldn't have. I would suggest you disconnect all new wiring and check for blown fuses. You may have also disrupted your brake switch in the process of running new wires. This could cause both your problems.
