Remote Wire Help

Ive done alot of installs but never seen anything like this. I got a pioneer head unit and an alpine amp. I know how to wire everything and everything seems right. I got the power wire from battery to amp, i got the rca's from head unit to amp and the amp grounded.  The light for my amp will be on even without the remote wire hooked up but as soon as i touch the remote wire to the remote wire connection on the amp the amp turns off. when my car is off and the remote wire is hooked up the amp will be on but when i turn the car off the amp turns off, unless of course the remote wire isnt hooked up. so this all doesnt make sense to me, i thought the remote wire was suppose to turn the amp on when the head unit was turned on but its doing the opposite which is turn the amp off. someone plz help if u know of any reasons why this could be happening.

instead of using the remote wire output from your head unit, just tap into the accessory wire.  that should solve your problem

have your amp checked, somethings wrong with it

Disconnect all the speaker wires and the rca cables. Test the amp for continuity on the ground cable first to ensure that it is grounded. Remove the remote on lead. With it removed test this wire to ensure that it gives you +12 volts when the cd player is turned on. If the amp still power up with no wires connected to it other than the + and - wires, the amp is screwed. If the amp does not turn on with onlt these two wires hooked up, chances are that you do not have a good ground.Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
