New Head Unit Grouding

What kind of car is it. I would just use my angle driver with a sheet metal screw and screw in a new screw into the metal cassing where the HU installs into ( if there is metal around that area. ) Try not to use the OEM ground... personal opinion.

There's a bracket that the OEM HU installs into that you can use for your ground. Try this and post your results.

You don't need to worry about grounding connection, If you purchased the correct aftermarket wire harness for your car.  Its a direct snap on connection to the existing harness of your car. Just connect the black (ground wire)of the radio to the black wire of the harness.  However, you might want to look up page 38-39 of your manual.  Its highly recommended that you connect the yellow wire (unswitched 12V) directly to your car battery due to excessive heat the HU generates.  Before installation, you might also want to think of your option ahead of time.  Like external CD changer or DVD player.  You can buy the connection required for these unit now, so you don't have to reach in there again to add it later.  You also need a new dash kit /w pocket to install your new Alpine HU.  One important detail, never remove the face panel prior to installation, you can easily break the connector/locking pin.  If you need further assistance, let me know...enjoy!
