Because you use something other then Notepad to type your posts. If you notice in the forum rules it will say

Use Plain Text Editors If you edit or format your posts in another editor before pasting them into the message form, please use Notepad® or some other plain text editor. Do not use Word®! Word® and several other rich text editors include code that will cause your posts to be displayed incorrectly. These posts may be deleted without notice.
At least that looks like what is going on.

Honestly, I couldn't tell one text editor from the next.  All I did was press the "new thread" tab, and started typing.  I didn't use any external thing.  However, it seems to be working now.

I'm starting to think this is a problem with the forum coding. It happens way too often and everytime people respond saying that they don't use any external programs..

NowYaKnow, there is no problem with the forum coding. The "forum coding" looks for specific tags created by programs such as Word® and automatically changes HTML brackets (<>) to ({}). All users should use a plain text editor such as Notepad or type directly into the text area of the form to post a message. If you copy and paste from Word® and/or some other rich text editors, you will likely get what you see in the first post above.

Hi baddgene, there are other third party programs that will also interfere with your posts such as Hotbar. If you are running Hotbar, which it appears you are, please have a peek at this: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=hotbar&fr=FP-tab-web-t&toggle=1

I've never seen this mentioned when others were having problems. Now it all makes sense! Thanks for the clarification.
