Power lock install on cable type?

Wondering what is the most reliable way hook up the actuator to the cable on cable type locks. I have a 2003 corolla. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Ouch, cable type locks, huh?  See how the lever from the actual key lock connects to the linkage, and see if you can maybe drill a small hole to fit the rod through. 

If it doesn't look feasible to use a standard aftermarket door lock actuator, you may be able to use two trunk popper solenoids with the cables (one for lock, one for unlock) for each door. 

I know, I know, not very practical, but may be the only solution.  I've almost done something this "ghetto" once, but was able to convince myself otherwise.

I did a a Matrix with the cables. I was able to put the rod on the actual lock on door (the part next to the handle that you physically lock and unlock). I just made the hole big enough for both. I did this on all four doors. It worked out pretty good. Been a year and a half not complaint yet. Good luck.

Sorry had to put this off for a while, but today I started again and took off my door panels. By looking at it I'm not too sure where to attach the rod to the latch. Can somebody show me from this picture where? http://www.members.shaw.ca/tkim4/lock.jpg

You will have to remove the door handle and make the hole where the cable is attached to the lock handle big enough for the lock cable and the door lock motor rod. Make the rod bent into a tight "U" so that it will not come out of the hole once installed.

I too have successfully accomplished the same task with no problems. It takes some time and patience but once you have one done and working, the others become fairly simple. Put the door back together to makes sure that the panel is not pushing on the actuator and binding up. Then remove the panel again so that you have something to look at as a reference point when starting the other doors.

In some cars you can go to the lock mechanism, in others it is easier to go to the lock switch.
