S-10 AHL's, making a switchable override?

I have a 99 S-10 that has the automatic headlights, only thing is the 98's, 99's, and maybe 00's do not have the override feature that involves pressing the dome override button like the newer one's do. Sometimes there are times where I don't want them coming on automatically, so that would require bypassing them altogether which involves disconnecting the ambient light sensor on the right dash speaker grille and jumping the wires with a 3.6 ohm resistor. So with the research I've been doing on relays lately this leads me to an idea: rewiring the AHL circuit by the means of a relay and a toggle switch. By doing this I could still have the AHL functionality when I want it if the toggle switch is off (current flows through the ambient light sensor), and I could disable the lights and shut them out entirely when I turn the toggle on (current flows through the resistor). I made a copy of the AHL schematic and also drew up a diagram of my own, think it'll work?:

Basically the existing gray and white wires going to the ambient light sensor will be cut and the new circuit added in between, and terminals 87 and 87a are going to act as an A/B switch for the two circuits.

any thoughts or comments? I'm thinking of maybe trying it out next week.
