Finding a short

I have a question and Im hoping you guys can help me, my neghbor owns a 05 Dodge Ram, his air conditioner blower stopped working all of the sudden, he took it to the mechaninc and they told him it had 2 shorts, now my question is...what are the reasons this could happen and what can whe do to fix it or find the short, any help you guys can give will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

If he had just had something done to it (alarm installed) that would be the first place to start troubleshooting.  Take it back to the place that did the work and have them look at it.  I know in some Chevy's, the circuit board on the a/c controls is exposed, so you have to tape up the antenna adapter when installing a stereo so nothing shorts.  I don't remember if this applies here or not, but that may be a possibility.

Also, check with the dealer service department for any applicable service bulletins since the truck is fairly new.

Well he made an appointment at the dealer ship but its not till like 2 weeks from now, and its pretty hot down here, we just tought we could research it a litle bit before we taked in and they dont brainwash us into something else.
