Looking for confirmation on problem.  97 Yukon with RR brake light/turn lamp won't light.  RF does blink but at accelerated rate.  Bulbs and socket plates have been replaced.  Am I looking at finding a short?  Please advise if you have seen this.

The rf blinks faster because the flasher doesn't have the load of the other bulb on it.  I'm wondering what you mean by socket plates.  Are you referring to the contacts of the socket?

Test for voltage at the harness when you turn the blinkers on.  Also ensure the ground connection is good.  If you have voltage at the harness, and the bulb/ground test good, then the contacts on the harness aren't making good contact.  Check for corrosion, or you may just need to bend some tabs out so they make better contact.

If you have no voltage at the harness, then check the wire color.  You'll need to test that wire for voltage from the front of the vehicle back until you find a break in the wire.

No, you're not looking for a short- you're looking for an open.  A short would blow the fuse and none of your turn signals would work.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
