Any OS will work...Depending on what you want the best MP3 players are Winamp, iTunes, Sonique.....

They should run on any OS with no problem

XP.
hands down. tho linux, if done right, probably might. Xp outta the Microsoft family at least.
personally, i use 2000 in my 'build' by the time teh car warms up, 2k is up running, and automattically started WINAMP
winamp is king in car installs. you can hook up a usb key pad, have each of the keys do specific things, and keep down your interface size requirements up front. Have a little PS2 touchpad for the older laptops hidden somewhere if you have to run a mouse. a 15 dollar rollup soft keyboard under the seat (don't move your seat around much now) with a usb connection (so you can disable it until you need it) also works wonders.

depends on the computer and how you have your BIOS setup....Set everything to minimal and any computer will startup quickly....Just dont Use Win ME...Win 2000, Win 98se, Win XP....Depending on the specifics of the puter your putting in any of these three are very stable...

no man. ah... you use ...
ah crap.   i think its a 'accessability' feature. primarily used for people with handicaps, keys can be programmed with macros to run.   just a sec... i'll show you where i got my original inspiration from.
