Last night I installed a remote start in my truck after spending days reading the various posts on this website. The installation went well (I thought). The only thing I couldn't get to work was the locks & alarm bypass (worked with resistors but not with resistors and diodes). I am sure I can work through this but any suggestions here would be helpful.

My real head scratcher is as follows. This morning I started up the truck normally (not too cold yet) and drove off to work. About a mile down the road the heater just stopped working. I pulled over, checked the fuses under the hood. No problems. I started the truck up again and the heater worked. Again after a mile it stopped. I am completed stumped.

A little background. I powered the remote start unit from the large pink & red wires in the ign harnes. I attached two ignition wires (one through a relay) to the small blue and red wires and then I powered two accessory wires with the unit - Large green and small organge (there are two acces relays onboard the RS). The truck starts up fine with the remote and the blower works (although I didn't let it run for a while to see if it died like it did this morning).

Noah- I don't have a Dodge here today to check, but your small red as ignition sounds funny to me. Also, probably not related, but wasn't there a small GREEN/ red second ignition to be powered also ? Try unplugging your remote start unit to isolate the heater problem. Sorry- I'm trying to check my install software and the computer doesn't want to help out! Steve

Thanks for the replies folks.  Turns out the problem was the usual culprit - The Installer!.  I inadvertently unlocked the wiring harness at the steering wheel during the installation and it was causing  the heater to cut in & out. No damage done except my ego.

Regards,

Ted
