i am trying to hard wire my radar detector but do not want to hack up the cig lighter since im going to leave it in my other car... i have a few universal plugs left over from a plug i bought for my speakers... i want to make sure im wiring the leads correctly...

the rear one is a little longer than the inner one (right one)... the longer one should be positive... please verify... here is pic...

usually the inner one is the + why not check it with a dmm and be sure about it.

check continuity between the plug and the pins; generally the outer surface of a plug like that is negative. Same goes for a cig lighter plug.
Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.
