Hey guys! I have a simple question. I have a customer that says his battery is running low. I can't recall the reading  I'm suppose to get on my DMM when there is nothing in the vehicle that is making the battery to run low.  Can someone remind me! Thanks!

My Personal Installer Note: Connectors are easy, neat, and professional. But do you know how to crimp properly?

  • A healthy battery is about 12.2 - 12.8 volts
  • A not so good battery ( but still operational ) is about 11.4 - 12 volts
  • A battery needing replacement will read under 11 volts ( about 10.5 - 10.8 )

I hope this is what you were wanting.

Anything over a 25ma draw is considered parasitic.  Use your DC ma current setting on your dmm.  Put it in line with your battery to check to see if the battery has a parasitic draw.

Thanks Jeff / Dan. This should be helpful enough. I will check over the weekend. I'm pretty sure there is something drawing from the battery because the vehicle was in a  recent accident and was ok before.
