Does any one know how to make a flame thrower kit for my car it is a 96 pontiac sunfire and i want to shoot flames out of my exhaust. i heard that you need a spark plug and a ignition coil. I think? Can some one please give me directions on how to make one and install it. and do you need to remove the catalanic converter?

Thanks, Nick

#1, An open flame on the road is probably a no-no, wherever you drive, and:
#2 I wouldn't have any idea, but removing the catalytic convertor is ILLEGAL, in all 50 states, and not only a violation of state laws, but of FEDERAL laws as well... You sure you want to mess with a federal violation? You'll never be able to smog your car again without it. If you come across plans to do it, and it suggests removing this vital part of your emmissions control system, I'd seriously think twice about it... and:
#3 This is a car AUDIO forum... kind of an odd question to ask here, dontcha think? How to make an Exhaust Flame Thrower Kit? -- posted image.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Yah thanks for the advice but i already found out how to install it and i almost have it done. its just a spark plug at the end of the exhaust, a coil ignition, and a switch and thats all.

Um you also need a relay or something that will cut off spark to the engine.
Saw it on trucks. Cut spark from engine after you rev it up and lights other spark plug in tail pipe igniting air/fuel mix and not trying to light exhaust gas.

Won't work well on a car with a catalytic converter. Best bet is to buy a propane kit, gas will not go through it. Again not street legal in any sense. Also use the search feature, there was a topic on this a while ago.

I heard some bad stories about this happening and then back shooting and blowing up engines. But my question is that if you just use cars for show can you then do this. I was planning on this for one of  my show cars I plan on building.

They make complete kits for doing this on vehicles without catalytic converters and carbureted engines. I have seen it at many shows, I have helped install 2 for show only vehicles. If its done improperly it can cause some really serious damage to the vehicle and possibly you.  You might want to check with whoever is officiating the show you want to attend, they are banned from some shows.
