Have a 79 eldorado in my garage, with a replacement power antenna. I cannot get the friggin thing to go up or down. Havent figured out the wiring on the thing either.

I have these wires in the power antenna box(which of course has no markings on it) Red, Black, Pink, Brown, Yellow, White, Green and Two blues. The black is ground and the red is 12v. have put 12 volts to all of the other wires and it will not go up. WHite, yellow and brown go out to the antenna.

ANy advice???

You can either contact the manufacturer for details, or return it to the store and use a universal.

thats the problem, there are no identifiable markings on the box whatsoever. Its a shiny metal box with wires coming out of one end. nothing else, no writing on it, nothing.

I'm assuming this means you were given this piece of gear, or found it laying around. If so, I'd forget about trying to make that particular piece work, and go with a universal.

actually, it was already in the car, hooked into his 8 track. I cut in the single din for the cd player, (looks great). The antenna worked when he pulled it in, and now it doesn't. If I put 12v to the pink wire, it blows the fuse, have tried putting 12v to all of the wires, and the antenna won't go up.

Pink is typically the trigger wire used on GM's. Assuming you didn't do any tinkering with the power antenna when it came in, it's not due to your install. Call it bad luck, or whatever, it's time for a replacement. Explain this to the customer and see where it goes from there.

The fact that connecting 12 volts to the pink wire blows the fuse tells you that the problem lies with the motor itself. I wouldn't beat yourself up over this one regardless of what the customer's logic tells him (it worked when it came in, now it doesn't).
