Starter Button...

I am doing wuite a bit of work to my car for customization, and one of the things I will be doing is rewiring the starter so I can use a push button instead of the traditional key start...

I am wondering how much amperage this button should be capable of withstanding...will a typical 3A 12V automotive momentary button do the trick or do I need something heavier to trigger the starter? should I just use a standard 30A relay and trigger the relay with the switch?

also, can anyone post some links to sites that sell automotive rocker switches? I would just do a search, but I prefer to deal with companies that others have dealt with before...I will be needing between 10 and 15 rockers, so I would like to use a smaller profile rocker if at all possible so the switch box doesnt need to be huge...

3A is likely not enough but it depends on the vehicle.  I would use a relay with that switch.

I'm a little curious on this subject...

I have a puch button start that I installed in to my car but you have to have the key into the acc. position.  Is there a way to wire another switch to say to "arm" the ignition so I then can use the push button start without using my key.  However I still want the use of my key.  On the other hand is theis even possible considering I need a bypass unit if I was to hook up a remote starter.  I have one of those chipped keys.  Anyone know anything about this.

Yes you will need a key in the ignition unless you bypass that which is not a good idea.
