Anyone out there with aftermarket cruise on Grand Am? Where did you mount the controls? Doesn't seem to be enough steering column room.

Rostra has a listing for a cruise switch that mounts next to the airbag. It is a steering wheel control mounted unit. It will transmit a signal to a module under the dash which hooks into the cruise. They are more money than the conventional add on lever, but they work and look good.
