Hopefully there are a few GM torubleshooting gurus here. :-)

My '87 Monte Carlo SS cruise is flaky at times. I set it and it hums along just great and then suddenly kicks out for no reason. Length of time in operation is completely random. Sometimes I can hit resume and it kicks back in, other times I have to bring it back to speed and hit the set button and other times I have to turn it off and back on before it will take the set again.

There have even been a few times where it's kicked out and I've just left it and then suddenly a few miles later it will kick back in.

Any ideas on where to start looking?

Check for vacuum leaks at or around Servo.  Sometimes the Servo will have an internal leak.  Also at Vacuum Brake Switch.  Make sure Throttle linkage from Servo is within GM install.  Also make sure your Speedometer needle is not jumpy.
