Does anyone have any tips when it comes time to mounting a new door panel out of FG?

I'm woried that the new door panel will viberavte against the door itself.

Also, when it comes time to mount your custom door panal or sub enclosure, etc. What are some tips on how to hide mounting locations with another piece of fiberglass, as to hide all nuts and bolts.

For example, I went to the Alpine site and drooled over the Civic Si project they did and noticed that none of their, panels or enclosures, had visable mounting locations. There was one shot from the back that showed one piece overlaping another. The question is......isn't there so much vibration coming from those subs it would rattle them together?

For anyone that is new to fiberglassing, like me, go to www.alpine-usa.com then "demo cars" That site has been the most detailed site, instruction wise, for me. It will give you a large visual jumpstart into FG. Thanks "crazedfiber" for the form you posted on March 11. "audiomechanic" you've also been a great help in all of your postings.

if you want a good non visable mount for a door panel you can make an insert piece. they show it on the alpine site. it is really vague and they dont really show the process ......but it does work. it is on the page where they show the doors all foamed and shaped. i am currently doing something similar at work on a sub enclosure to get the company logo on the box......if you want i can shoot the pics over when that part is done........lemme know and email address .......they will prolly get sent on a weekend.

Many times, the factory panel is still used, just highly modified and covered in mold cloth and resin. In this case, the factory plastic tabs can still be used, and the panel is still easy to remove at future times. If you actually BOLT the panel onto the door, and then cover the bolt area with fiberglass, you would have to literally rip parts of the panel off later to remove the door panel. Using the factory panel and factory methods of attaching the door panel makes it much easier. This may not be possible in all cases, however it sure makes custom door panels much easier when able to do so
