Working with fiberglass ... -- posted image.Hi ,i have no choice but to ask you all for help.In my '95 BMW 318i i will install two half din pieces one being an eq and the other an capacitor charge display (half DIN),now because where they will go i have a problem with the depth, anyone familiar with the dash of 3 series BMW's can understand the problem. The two pices i would like to install them just below the trip computer, because there is a DIN space there but it's only just a little over 7 centimetres or 3" in depth and i need 14 centimetres or 5.25" depth.I contacted Metra,American International,Scoshe and none of them can help me,so it looks like a custom fibreglass job to me.Can anybody give me some instructions on what i should expect,i'm willing to try a few untill turns out the way i want it.Do i need to make a mold ?,how about after i sand it down how do i get to match the car's grain...,any tips. One other thing,is fibreglass usualy strong but with some flexibility right ?.Working with fiberglass ... -- posted image.

Thank you !!!

Hey Dan MC, you can try this site for all your fiberglass questions (  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/glassmanscustomforum ), they are great and the Glassman is the man to talk to about this type of installation. Look up their cars they have for pictures and you might find a BMW that has what your looking for and ask thm about it. Fiberglass can have flexibility in it when it is thin enough ( about 2 or 3 layers) but at this thickness it will also be brittle.

Not a problem, Dan. Hope Glassman or someone else on that forum can help you out with the fiberglass.
