How thick should I make my fiberglass box for a sony 12" sub woofer (L121P5). I am using 1 and 1/2 oz. chopped strand mat. How many layers will it take to get the thickness I should use. Also the sub suggests I should build a 1 cubic ft enclosure. How do i go about getting close to those deminsions.

well, id put on about 6 or 7 layers of mat.  that should bring you to about 3/8 or 1/2 of fiberglass.  for your dimensions, where is it going to be?  for me, id take your 1cuft, which equals 1728cuin., then divide it by how tall you want it.  so say you want it 14in tall, then youd go 1728/14=123.4.  so now, take that number and say you want it 15inches wide.  then divide that by 15 and you get 8.2in.  so, if you want it 14tall and 15wide, itll have to be 8in deep.  but remeber that youll need that much space inside the box after you figure in woofer displacement.  so your outside dimensions would be a little more.  hope that helps some.
