Cardboard sub box?

Does anyone else use card board to premake an intricate sub box? Or am I just that bad of an installer? I know how to measure but I don't feel like cutting a 33" piece of MDF to find out I could of made it 37" easily... So far this has worked quite well for me for intricate cuts and angles... Does everyone else out there just measure and cut and it comes out perfectly everytime? I'd like to learn more about MDF box fabrication measurements, if anyone can shed some light on the subject that'd be very helpful!

Uh... I use cardboard to help mold fiberglass boxes. I would never use it as a wall in an enclosure though.Certified Security Specialist

No, I think it is a great way for quick templates and enclosures. Measure all you want, but if you make a box exactly what you measured, it won't do you any good if you can't get it in the trunk. Great way to start. DXAV

people ask u why u use card board? HAHA, u should tell my buddy, he just cutz wood untill it fits, usually having to redo something 4-5 times. It costs me about $50 to do a complete MDF setup (box, amp rack, cap rack, bat compartment) it would cost him like $500. The key is doing it right the first time, which involves using ur head. HEY!!! LOW AND BEHOLD THE CARDBOARD TEMPLATE THEORY WORKED!!! I didn't think it would when the box looked way to big for the opening of the trunk... when it slid in with ease... and no room to spare for expansion I was both happy and relieved... The box ends up being  a lil over 4 cubic feet internally... so now I know I can have a ported set up... thanks for the reassurance and tips and hints along the way!!
