Hi I just built a box out of 3/4 inch MDF for two 10 inch subs. Personally I think that painting the box makes it look like crap. But I really don't want to carpet it. My question is how can I get a finish that will look glossy and almost like plastic. Can I just put a little bit of FIberglass all aroung the box? Thanks

i'm a newbie at fiberglass too, and i've found that if you put bondo on top of the fiberglass, sandit down w/ reg. gain paper and then med. and then fine or extra fine (320 grit). you get a better look to it, you could even primer it w/ kilz. and then sand. hope i helped

if your just going for the look and not really a shape just lay a thin layer of rage gold or any other type of body filler on it and sand till you are happy with it

i agree with silent. or what you could do is just get regular primer & sand the box, then prime & block sand to make sure you have straight flat sides, then paint. or if you want to have it really smooth prime & sand with 200 grit down to 1000-1500 and block sanding. the more you prime and sand the smoother it'll be.

...forgot to mention that if you do this correctly it'll look as good as fiberglass. when your ready to paint make sure you buy a glossy paint to help bring out more shine to the box.
