Hey guys i just got this idea in my head about getting a second 9500 and a second 801D and doing a nice fiber glass enclosure for them and i was curious if there was anything that i would need to worry about with them? I know they area heavy speaker and would i need to do a little more reinforcing around the speaker so the FG wont crack or what? and also haveing a second 801 on the other sub so each one has its own do i need to worry about them putting out the same amount of watts or not so much? Let me know what you guys thing of the whole thing

same amount of watts? WTF? An amps gona push however much power u give it so run some 1/0 AWG wire and u'll be strait. Anyway, thats a whole different subject. As for the 9500, I'd suggest at least 10 layers of FG. Why? Cuz if u can break 10 layers of FG (not some thrown together in 10 min FG I'm talking about well laid FG) then ur pushing too much power. I'd also suggest using 2, 3/4" MDF rings mounted on top of eachother to create a 1 1/2" deep mounting ring, then figerglass it to the box from the inside with about 5-7 layers of glass to make sure its secure, then use heavy duty bolts with some T-nuts and if that breaks well, u'll probably be deft before that breaks, jeese! WTF r u thinking?!? 2 9500's? Well, more power to ya man!

I think most people on this site are probably deaf by now, based on the systems that people say they have in their rides. I probably will be next once I get my JL 12W7 and speakers installed in the tiny club cab of my Dodge Dakota. I imagine that I'll have way more base than I'll ever need or want, oh well. Maybe I'll invest a few bucks in some ear plugs too.

two 9500's sounds okay, but 4 would sound better. j/k the previouse post is correct. the more layers you can manage the better. those subs are very powerful and i have seen many poorly built enclosures suffer the wrath of the 9500. where i was previosly employed we never put less than two in at a time. one time we did 4 10'9500 on four 1501d. sounded loud, but not enough space in the 1842 caprice classic with no panel left unrusted. i work in detroit b the way.

we usually make the fiberglass about 1/2 inch thick for the show cars. we dont use thet much mat though, we use resin additives on the inside of the boxes to get it that thick. another good thing to do is make a sipport for the back of the 9500 so it isnt putting all the stress on the mounting ring.

you will want to match the output of the amps as closely as you can if they will be in a common chamber box. use a DMM and a test tone to check the AC voltage from the outputs and match them.

are you doing 9500-10 or 12 and are they single or dual voice coil?

is the box going to be sealed or ported?

thanks for the input what are those resin additives that you are talking about? would i need to worry about matching the power if they were in a chambered box?? I am using two 12" 9500's and they are the dvc models and it will most likely be a sealed box rather than a ported box
