I am building a box for one JLW6V2 for my 02 Altima. I want it to fire back into the trunk. The trunk is pretty big and I want the box to fit flush on the left and right side. I think it would look stupid if the front was made of wood and flat from left to right since i am only using one sub. So i want to make some kind of fiberglass front that fits around the sub and fits flush with the left and right of the trunk. I need to put some kind of shape since it is a large span for one sub.

I was thinking of building the box out of wood and then making a fiberglass cover which would attach to front of box and fit nicely around sub and span the width of the trunk. Any ideas on how I can add some shape to such a large width that will only have one 12. the span is about 40in and the box is 20 inches wide so I have an extra 10in on each side I need to cover up to make it look like one box.

having a flat front that is 40in wide with only one twelve will look lost so i need to create some kind of design to make it look nice.

any ideas

would you use some kinda block/attachment to stretch mesh over then cover w/ resin and fiberglass and resin and so forth. I might be way wrong but thought I might see if I would be close...

Ugh well you could build you a mdf frame, and then just stretch fleece over it. There wont be any strength issues so like 2-3 layers of glass ought to be plenty. My suggestion is go to www.alpine.com and look at their rsx they built a lot of mdf frames for covering all kinds of stuff they put in the car, and that could give you an idea of a shape you might want. I say put some kind of wave look into it.
