I will be molding an lcd I purchased into a dash piece. I had a few questions. I have previous fiberglass experience. Many people have suggested I try liquid plastic. Anyone find success with it? Below is a link to an install that is much similar to mine. Does the liquid plastic work well? What about for texture? were can I get texture spray? Specific name? I dont have a paint gun...Prob do everything out of cans.

also...were can I get liquid plastic cheap? HZEmall sells it but its like 29.99 plus shipping

Not sure exaclty what spaces you are looking to fill but everything that I have seen made as far as dash wise and monitors consisted of using ABS plastic and some sort of cement and accelerator. You can purchase the plastic at local hobby stores, cut out the design of the place needing the gap closed, plastic cement it in place then spray the accelerator on it to help it cure faster (within seconds). All of that can be purchased for under 20 bucks depending on quantity and place you are buying it from. That would seem to work for me.

I just finished mine yesterday. I used Duramix, you can get it at any bodyshop supply house. For texture I used SEM Texture coating. I was planning on posting pics after work tonight. It turned out really good.

i just did a setup exactly like that in a scion about 2 weeks ago, and i just redid it last weekend.. what i did was fit the top and bottom of the 7 inch screen's bezel into the dash, scored the edges with sandpaper, filled all of the spaces with 3500psi rated plastic epoxy. then i ground down the epoxy with a dremel tool, filled in with some body filler, sanded the filler, filled in the small crevices with spot filler, and followed all of the steps of paint and wetsanding to complete it.

Sounds like alot of good ideas to me....I read alot on mp3car and they have some awsome ideas to incorperate moniters into dashs......look there for your needs....Chris
