Issues with resin on fleece

I attempted to make some panels in the trunk of my car the past couple of days. I got as far as laying up the fleece and then laying resin on top of it. After it cured I took the panels out to find that the resin didn't even get close to soaking through to the back sides of the panels. Not long after that they proceeded to warp themselves since they were not very thick. What went wrong... I used 100% polyester fleece and Evercoat resin mixed with 1% catalyst. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

You didn't use ENOUGH resin... I mixed about a quart for the face of my sub box for 2 12's facing forward in my car... I made 2 1" rings one for each sub then stretched fleece over the rings to give the face of the box some shape... then poured the resin ALL over the fleece and also used a bondo spreader to work it deeper into the fleece just light strokesThis stuff soaks up some resin... I've been told you can add some acetone to help thin it maybe that'll work I used a quart or so and I still had some spots on the back side that were just a bit fuzzy... but if you can get it to soak all the way through you will be very happy with the results from just 1 layer of fleece

Yup that stuff will soak up way more than you think. Next time just keep slapin' it on until it just won't soak up any more. If possible apply it from both sides, though it sounds like in this case it may not be.Nik

i have used fleece for a while now. I hate the stuff, but nothing seems to work better. I have applied an extreme amount and STILL have had areas that didnt get touched (and i hate when sanding through it and suddenly you hit an area that didnt soak in). What can ya do though? Just dont be cheap and keep dumpin in resin i guess.04 dodge neon SXT
