i recently made a FG box for my camaro (in the cubby hole, like the JL stealth box)

my question is, i have about 6 layers of glass, and it is rock hard (passed thumb test). my question is, do i need to bondo it? i wont be painting it, and it will be unseen. Also if i do bondo it, i am afraid that the box will not fit back in the cubby. Is the bondo really necessary? and if it is can i just apply it to the inside of the box?

I dont't see anything wrong with just putting it in ther just like it is. Bodyfill is used as a medium to help make it look all pretty like (after the long hours of sanding). But, if nobody is going to see it, you can probably get away with not making it look pretty and just stuff it in your cubby. As long as the strength is good with the box itself.

if you have dips or unwanted curves you will want to fill them a little in order to make them follow the wanted contour of the finished product. If it looks flat and like the way you want it simply cover it and be done with it.

Thumb test, if it's 6 layers thick you should be able to stand on it, but f it flexes your speakers will sound like crap, it should be hard as a rock.

It seems from your post that maybe you think the bondo helps with the strength. Bondo is only used for making the box look good, it has no structural integrity. Fiberglass is MUCH stronger than bondo and bondo is only used for asthetic purposes.

Don't put any bondo on it if you aren't going to see it and don't care what it looks like, it will save you a TON of time.
