sem flex primer

i just sanded down my plastic pillars in my car, plan on painting them.  but first,  i bought some sem flex primer,   do i need to still use an adhesion promotor them use the primer or would it be safe to skip the adhesion promotor since i am using the flex primer.would u like your chicken original or extra crispy?

You need to clean off the pillar with a plastic prep FIRST. This will remove the dire oils ect., then yes you need to use an adhesion promotor to get it all to stick. Good job on getting the flexable primer also. I see a lot of paint projects fail because people use standard high build primer to save money and cut corners.

as far as the pillars go if they are rigid abs then you can just sand the with like 400 grit and spray high build primer on them and not have any problems...just so you are not taking them on and off...a lot of people problems with peeling and popping is due to poor prep work. if it is vinyl covered or pretty flexible then you will need to sand with 400, clean with wax/grease remover, spray bulldog(or other adhesion promotor but this is flex agent and tie coat as well, then spray a primer with flex additive, then your basecoat, then your clear WITH FLEX ADDITIVE. and you should never have any problems with them. paint and body
