I made the mold in the vehicle out of fiberglass, trimmed and ready to fleece/fiberglass the face.  This mold fits up to plastic panels so the fit is very tight.  When I glass over the fleece should I run the mat over the edge of the back edge of the mold?  If I build up the edge it will not fit properly to the plastic panels,,,what technique do you guys use?  Just wondering if I just use fleece to roll the edge then will it bond the mold to the face of the enclosure?  Thanks for any help....

what exactly are you building?i have an idea of what you are talking about but some more info or pictures would be helpful.if its a small piece that wont have any load put on it you may not need to wrap it around at all,but if its bigger and will have pressure put on it it may need to.

Its a fairly large sub enclosure,  with 2 JL 10w7's in it,,,I'm pretty sure I'll need to roll it over or at least a layer or two,,,if nothing else it'll give me peace of mind knowing that it has a good bond,,,

what you can do is glass the 2 pieces together on the inside of the box for its physical strength and then use bondo or kitty hair on the outside to touch up the appearance.if possible cut your speaker hole before putting the pieces together and then youll have to work through the hole.i just did this on part of a box i just built,it worked good but depending on the shape it can be difficult to get to all areas.a mirror should help you alot.and yea 2-3 layers should be enough.

oh,i dont think you had to pieces you were trying to bond together, but this idea will still work for you, just build up the inside around the edges to get your strength, that way you wont be adding any extra thickness on the outside and you will still be able to have it fit perfect.good luck.

I don't know if I can really get to the inside joints very good, maybe i can sand the back side of the mold down right by the edge to give me some lay up room to lay a few layers there.  I'm just hesitant about not getting enough mat on the edge and risk it being the weak part and cracking.  I'll try and take some pics tomorrow and post them up,,,this is as you can tell my first fiberglass project,,,thanks for the help,,,
