I am installing a JL 18w6 in a 97 deville concours. It is in a box that is to JL size specs, I am thinking of fiberglassing that and the amp into the trunk facing towards the rear. The customer still needs room to fit at least one body in it in a pinch. They also want a hiding spot built into the fabrication. Unusual yes, unreasonable no. Thanks in advance.

what is he going to put in the hiding spot a pack of gum ya right Ideas needed for an 18W6 in 97 Deville -- posted image. but whatever its makeing you money. it sound like the best way to go is to make it out of fg but use mdf on the flat parts. your going to have to do some braceing with an 18 in there.

As far as the hiding spot goes he said the size of a large baby[:o)
What kind of options do I have for the finish of the box? Is gel coating hard?

if you are going to paint it you sould go with clear coat and that is good and hard and sould do the trick as for the hiding spot it soulds like he is trying to smuggle drugs in style, or babys and that is a trible way to say how big he needs the hiding space, if i were you i would charge him as much as posible for his little extra space he wants. cose im sure that if it is something leagle he would be lasy and put in his car instead of taking the time to hide it in the hiding space in the box.

He's a jewler I think, which explains the hiding spot, i think.
Is there anything I should avoid when building a F.G. enclosure for an 18"? Besides mdf bracing of course.
Thanks, Dustin
