duraglass lifting from plastic panel

Guys,

I've recently made a double-din opening out of duraglass, bondo.  I sanded the plastic panel down first with 80grit.  Then layed my new double din opening out of wood on top of the plastic panel.  Everything looked good for about a week.  Now you see the lines of the wooden panel where it meets with the duraglass.  Also there's a crack in it now.  What's the problem?  Is it the primer that I used?  Is it sinking more into the wood?  Please reply.

sounds like duramix4040 is what should have been used in this instance.

4040 has given me the same issues.  When you primer over the 4040 it looks good.  Looks like one piece again.  But then after a day or two, same thing the primer lifts or 4040 and you can see the imperfections.  I don't know if I'm using wrong primer or what. 

sounds to me like you should have used a product called fusor100 rather then duraglass...fiberglass, duraglass, bondo, any of those products are going to separate from plastic at some point...especially if there is any chance of flexing...

Fusor products or pruducts specifically made for bonding plastics are what you should have used...there are several available, the good ones are all two part epoxy products, that will bond plactics to virtually any material...these products once mixed also have the consistancy of a runny filler or the ever so popular MILKSHAKE mix...

now if it is just a question of the duraglass separating from the wood then it sounds as though you may have mixed it a little hot and it is shrinking like velocity said..just not that t will most likely separate from the plastic too...drill holes and rough the snot out of the plastic...36 grit paper..really tear it up, to give the fiberglass a fighting chance of sticking..

virtually none...you will have to find a shop that deals specifically with autobody repair needs...i go to TSS...stuff is a little pricey though

you may also find small tubes of it at an AutoZone/ Pepboys/ Parts Source...i believe JB Weld has a similar product as well..that can be found in any auto parts store..Napa..Etc..
