Rage, Bondo, Duramix, FG?

I'm putting a touchscreen in my 02 maxima.   My strategy is to cut out the inside of a plastic scoche single din kit  and place the touchscreen in.  Of course it's not going to fit perfectly so I want to fill in the sides sand it down and paint it.  I've seen tons of pics of similar projects, but they don't explain if they're using rage gold, bondo, duramix, FG?  I've read posts that bondo doesn't adhere to plastic, is not easy to sand, but that's the only product I can find at a store.  I've also read that duramix is good, rage gold is good, rage gold extreme is good.  I even had someone tell me to use fiberglass.  What are the reccomendations for a project like this?  I would like to make this as simple as possible as it's my first custom job, but I also want it to look factory.

duramix is good to use as it is a plastic filler, and will adhere to most plastics. Also you would not have to drill holes. Just make sure you sand the bezel lightly especially where you plan on applying the duramix. It you google duramix you will find tons of suppliers. Once you start doing more projects you will find that you come out better buying bulk over the web than just going to the store and getting a container at a time.

I bought some "Liquid Plastic" from http://www,hzemall.com and made several plastic molded projects.  I would use duramix 4040 and the liquid plastic for amazing results.  I;ll see if I can show a pic of an H2 floor console bezel I reconfigured using these products,,,it looked so factory I have to explain to people that the H2's dont come that way...basically I took the rear radio controls, the seat heater part of the console and moved it down where the little storage pocket goes, molded that in, I then took a din pocket that wasn't even close to the right size and molded it into where the seat heaters and rear radio control was and gave it a nice contoured look.  The above place also has some "Icing" which you can use as final prep before texturing or painting.  This IMO is the only way to mold plastic properly,,,,

Can you use STUCCO (which is normally used for walls) mixed with some wood white glue as bondo?

Well, I got the screen and duramix so I'm ready to go.  This is a picture of the scoche dash kit after I cut out the center to make it a double din.  I'm going to start filling in with duramix.  More pics to come...

Well, I ended up buying Duramix 4040 and 4058 and created my own dispenser gun by using a caulk gun and wood dowels.  I was able to use the 4040 to build up the major parts, but wasn't aware that i'd use one mixing per application and I made a horrible mess with it.  So I ended up using the 4058 for the rest of it.  I'm now finishing my sanding and will attempt a test install this weekend.  I will post pictures of my creation later today.

actually you will find the best product for this type of project to be Fusor 100ez...it is a two part plastic epoxy...

any polyester based product will not stick properly to plastic that includes FG, bondo, duramix/ duraglass...
