Hello,

I am looking for someone in Georgia who can do some minor fiberglass work... I have a set of aftermarket mirrors and they are not meant to fit my truck, however I did some modifying and now they do lol.. However, there is a SMALL gap on the mounting plate that irritates me and I would like it to be filled... I thought about using bondo glass but i didnt know how it'd hold up to the pressure after the mirror is tightened down... Also, if the price is good I would like some door panels worked on lol. Have a camera to take a shot of what you are talking about?

sure... It'll probably be tomorrow night before I can post pics because of the rain here... But maybe I can get some ideas flowing by describing it...

The mirror uses an adaptor plate that is sits on the door itself and contours to the curve of the door (in my case it's an angle)... My problem is that there is a small gap where a piece of the plate is missing because it was intended for a newer model Dakota... I just want it filled for cosmetic reasons...

lol, ya picture will work better I guess... but maybe someone gets my point... it shouldnt be too hard honsetly..

Well, have you thought of doing the project yourself with assistance from us should you run into any problem?

I say that because, you have all the parts (truck and mirrors). Also, once you do your first fiberglass project, all the mystery is taken away, and you will be more prone to doing more projects.

it would be nice to do it myself... but I am SO prone to making things 100x worse when I attempt them lol! But I will give it a shot... I'll probably need to make a new thread later on.. But I will be busy at work so it make take some time.. but should the bondo glass be sufficient or would it be better to go to walmart (or where ever) and pick up a MAT and resin? I've never REALLY looked into a fiberglass project but what do I need? I saw a fiberglass CLOTH and a fiberglass MAT at walmart... one looked like a lot of strands of string and the other just a cloth.. does that make a difference? what about the rest? just resine or whatever... haha, I just need to know what to get really.. and then I will give it a shot...

Yeah read up at the top of the page, it helps a ton.

Anyway how big is the gap? Fiberglassing it may not be the right choice if its very small.
