o.k guys:

the 12 w6v2 has alot of wiring flexibility.i want to wire 2 w6v2's in parrallel or series to a 500/1. because of the flexibility,my amp can see a two ohm load. how much power will each speaker see from this mono amp if i wire them in parrallel/series. can i extract 500 watts each speaker,or will they both see 250 watts? keep in mind that this is a mono amp?

If you have two of them, you will only be able to wire it up as a 1 ohm setup, 4 ohms, or 16 ohms (It's a dual 4 KS)

If your amp is a true 500/1, then each speaker will only see up to 250 watts each. What amp are you using? If it's not a CEA compliant amp, then you might not be running 500 watts from it. For example, there are many amps out there that state they are 500 watts or whatever but are actually much lower (like 150w@12 volts) If such is the case, your amp will not be able to even push two speakers and just barely be able to push 1 safely (for the speaker)

Good Luck!

I'm guessing he's talking about a jl 500/1, in which case, you're fine. those are great amps, although overpriced IMO

yes im talking about a jl audio 500/1. if i am running two dual voice coil 12w6v's at 2 ohm impedence, the amplifier will see a two ohm load from the setup. im thinking that the two speakers will then see 500 watts a piece wired in parallel. i say this because it is a mono amp.one output rated at 500 watts?

by the way, thanks for the replies

yes the JL mono amps are wired in parallen internally so your 2 ohm speaker load becomes a 1 ohm load as far as the amp is concerned.

the JL 500/1 features JL's RIPS technology. (regulated internal power supply). that means it's actual output is 500 watts rms at any load between 1.5 and 4 ohms and any input voltage between 11 and 14.5 volts. so in actuality it doesnt matter how you wire your speakers. you are going to be severly underpowering your subs though, as 'killer sonata' stated each speaker is seeing 250 watts of output and they are capable of 400 watts each. instead of blowing all that money on 2 12w6v2 drivers you should have bought 2 12w3v3 for that amp, would have been more worth your hard earned cash, or bought 2 amps.

i have them same subs and you would have better sound out of one of the w6 in a ported box with that 500 on it than any way you think of with both
