You can put bond over hte vinyl but it probobly depends...In my truck i put bondo over hte vinyl dash...which worked excellent i sanded it down and painted it......But if you mean a softer vinyl liek what i have in my door panels im not too sur ehow well that woudl work

If its on your dash im pretty sure it would work...cuz every dash ive seen is hard like mine..its jsut a thin layer of the Vinyl with a thin layer of Foam under it n it worked fine for me...Only problem was sanding it but that was jsut cuz of where i used it on my dash i couldnt get in there good with a sanding block...I covered my entire dash with the bondo and sanded it down starting with an 800 Grit sand paper and painted it glossy black and it turned out excellent...looks fiberglassed...only thing i di wrogn was put a clear coat on it because that actually messed it up and dook away the shine and softened up the rest of the paint and warped it...when i redo it im not using a clear coat
