I have recently come up with a more accurate way to measure a fiberglass enclosure BEFORE you glass it.

I am building a ported enclosure and didnt want to take any chances or wast any material so it prompted me to come up with a more accurate way to measure than just packing peanuts and also I dont have to completely build before I measure.

Simply use mdf or fiberglass to build the base or frame for the enclosure. temporarily tape, glue or attach the tshirt material to the frame in the shape you will later glass in....

Now go out and buy a big ole bean bag chair.....Empty the contants of the chair into the enclosure to the top. make sure to get the foam pellets in all the corners. then dump the pellets that are in the enclosure, out into a large cardboard box.  shake the box to get the top layer flat as possible. Measure the width and length of the box. Now stuff a tape measure all the way to the bottom of the box to get the height.

Do the math and you can put all the foam pellets back in the bean bad and return it to the store. Hehehe!!!

This way is far more accurate than packing peanuts.  The foam pellets are light enough to allow you to measure without stretching and distorting the stretch material. They are small enough to get into virtually anywhere.

Hope this helps.

Oh JCPenny's online sells refills for the beanbags for $16  but it takes like 2 weeks for delivery.

Foambymail.com also has them....for $30...but they have the ultra messy stuff....the little bitty pellets.

do it right the first time ....or do it again and again and again...
