Alright i have a 96 grand am and im going to embark on a journey of alot of fiberglass and paint. my dash in the pontiac is probably the first thing ill do interior wise but i was wondering how i should go at it. the dash is like some hard material then a foam layer on top of that and then a thin layer of that leather lookin stuff that always cracks under the sun... "cant remember that word off the top of my head". should i just rip out that fake leather stuff and fiberglass to the foam. [the foam is plasticy and pourus] or should i just lay down a carpet over top of the existing dash without ripping everything out, because my worry is the fact that it fits in realy tight.

also relating to this is another problem... my airbag on the dash.      "the picture below isnt my car but it is a pretty good explination"

wat should i do for that?? i dont realy want to disable the airbag cuz i suck at driving and my lady is the one that sits in that seat. i would like to fiberglass it if i could but i dont want to restrict the bag from goin boom. if anyone knows how those cover panels on the airbags open up please tell me maby it could help.

What are you looking to do specifically? Make a new dash? Sticking to the factory lines? What are you trying to do specifically?

I wouldn't worry about the airbag not deploying. Breaking fiberglass is nothing. I would be more concerned about the shards of fiberglass in bedded into your girls face.
