2001 F250 Bluetooth Kit

I am about to take my first bluetooth kit job on a fleet of f250 trucks, mostly 2001.

I am worried about how to connect the mute wire.

Does anyone know the exact mute wire for this truck?

Anything else I should worry about? Seems like the rest of the connections hsould just be power related.

The radio needs to have a phone mute button on the front or a mute button in order for a single wire connection to work. The wire can be tested for behind the radio. using a regular 12 volt test light (not an air bag safe light) probe each wire with the radio on. when you hit the mute wire(which is neg. triggered) the radio will mute and will probably display "phone" on the face as well. The ground from the test light, even though it is through the bulb, is still enough to trigger the mute function. Connect the wire from the hands free kit to this wire. Most hands free kits are neg. output so no relay will be needed. the wire is probably yellow from the kit.

Which Bluetooth kit are you planning to install?  Are you aware of the Peripheral Celfi harnesses?  They allow the handsfree audio to pass through to the vehicle speakers with compatible cars.  The Mute triggers either the radio phone audio input, or switches a relay to route the audio.  Those harnesses are designed to plug straight into the Motorola IHF1000 ("Z" kit or 98676 K kit).  Makes the install a plug-n-play snap!

For those Fords, if they have the phone symbol on the radio, you could use the PXFDHF1 harness, no relay needed.
