ck3000 and relay

I apologize if this has been asked before, I did read through all six pages and did not find an answer. First, I have a 2005 Cadillac CTS-V (on-star, bose, ext amp, nav unit). I ordered the GMCSS-2 cable and I am going to try that. I do not think it is going to work though since it is for the Bose radio without nav. If it does not, I am going to wire the CK3000 in after the amp. Some say it wont handle the amp output, some say there is no problem. If it does not, the only thing ruined would be a $100 parrot kit. As for muting all eight speakers, I know the parrot will mute the four door speakers (and the tweeters which are crossovered from the front door speakers) and then I need two SPDT relays talked about here for the center channel and sub. This is my question, can I use relays on the speaker lines? Or will it only work on 12V lines? Where is the best place to get this relay? Is there a specific type from Radio Shack or Autozone etc? To hook up the relay, yellow mute wire from CK3000 and ground to terminals 85 and 86? One of the speaker lines to terminals 30 and 87a? thanks

the relay will work .. it does however need 12 volts for the relay to work but the relay for the speakers will work and as long as it has the five pin relay your good..Confidence is the key to any project!!

When I don't find radio mute on back of radio, I just use a bosch relay to cut power to radio. You need power to the relay. Radio mute wire from kit goes to 85 and 12v constant to 86 (or visa versa). I then connect 30 and 87a to the power wire I just cut. This will do it. When the phone rings, it will send ground through radio mute wire from car kit to relay and will then open connection from 30/87a to 30/87 therefore disconnecting power to the radio.cellular installer
