'02 silverado oe foglight switch

I have an '02 Silverado that has the Z71 Tahoe/Suburban lower valance installed that has some aftermarket round driving lights in it. I have all of the wiring ran and hooked to the cheap rocker switch that came with the driving lights but I want to purchase the factory switch panel that has the cargo and fog switches in the same location. Mostly because I don't like the tacked on look of a .22 cent rocker switch anywhere in a vehicle. My question is, does anyone have any idea what the connector on the back of the switch looks like for the fog light side? I don't have a problem purchasing the GM switch, I'm just wondering if I'm going to have to come up with some kind of goofball plug to wire my aftermarket lights to the factory switch? TIA!

a good parts person at the GM dealer will be able to order you the connector body as well as the electrical terminals that fit into the cavities so you can make your own harness. if you can't find a decent parts person worth a poop, try finding the part you need in a wrecking yard that you can just cut off and give yourself 8"-10" of wire length from the connector and use it that way.

I have a pretty decent friendship with the parts guy @ the local Chevy dealer. If I can't find one in a yard somewhere I'll probably have to go that route.

Just found out that the GM switch is only a momentary switch that signals the BCM to turn them fogs on or off, so that's not gonna work. What a PITA. Oh well.......back to the drawing board I guess.

it will work fine, just use a latching relay setup, or a solid state latching relay. there was another gentleman on here a few months back that did the same thing as you and we helped him get his project accomplished.

no problem, it's pretty simply really, it just involves placing a simple semiconductor that works like a one way valve (only for electrical current) inline where needed. you might check out the section at the top called "diodes". they are simple, cheap, easy to use, and have so many uses and benefits there is no way i could list them all.

Cool. I'll check into it. I have done several amps and head units over the years and a remote start or two, but never anything this involved just for a cheap ass pair of fog lights! LOL! Guess that's what I get for being anal about the look of the finished product. The other sad fact is that only I will know what lengths I went to just to make it all look factory!
