I have an emergency strobe light on my vehicle. I use it several times a day but usually only for very short periods. But I constantly forget it's on and drive off with the strobe light on - looking like a Gomer! It currently has a lighted switch but it's not easy to see in bright daylight.
I need to come up with an intermittent reminder buzzer to keep me from driving around all day with the strobe lights on. I need something that will sound a buzzer periodically and maybe even have an adjustable delay.
I would install it after the switch so that it would buzz every 30 or 60 seconds or so while the strobe light is powered. This would prevent me from driving around looking like a Gomer. : ^ )
You help will be greatly appreciated.

year make model please. you could pull a headlight buzzer out of any car at the junk yard. do you leave the truck running all the time? if not you could wire a relay to through to ground when the key is on and hook the hot side to the light.

The capacitor allows the coil of the relay to be energized until the capacitor stores a charge, thus de-energizing the coil. The resistor bleeds off the charge of the capacitor when positive voltage is removed from the other side of the coil. You can increase the output time by simply changing the value of the capacitor. This one will give you about a 1/2 second output.

That's the closest thing i could find! Maybe a Mr.idiot, or a Mr Pierson could chime in with the size of capacitor you would require for that 30sec delay! If not, maybe a 528t timer is in order, using the momentary output of the relay you could then attach a sound emitting device of some sort! If you don't like it read my signature! cheers!

How about wiring a relay up to trigger off the brake wire and the switch - so that whenever you step on the brake and the switch is on the buzzer notifies you (this ideally would happen before you drive off when you go to put the vehicle in gear).

Because of the long delay I'm not sure the relay / cap setup would work well.  A 528t timer might be a good start.

By the way Kevin i initially thought the delay was kinda long so i was doubtful about the relay setup! Was just waiting for you to clear it up!

Just an after thought momentum! if you are using kevin's method then, you may require a relay if the brake switch is applying a positve as well,  or the other way would be to use a fairly light duty buzzer and switch the ground side of the strobes, this way the relay could be eliminated!
