hey, okay so the problem is i have my bike with hids and added the relay harness from a car so now both my low and high beam are always on. does anyone have a diagram that would work to add a relay to make the high beam only go on when i push the highbeam button? if you have a better idea feel free to mention it. thats all i though of so far but i didnt get to drink my coffee yet LOL.
thanks guys

the reason they are both coming on at the same time is that you have them wired how you would for a car, with 2 lights always ignited. You need to make a separate wire harness for each the lo and hi beam. As long as you use the factory plugs for each harness, they will work like they did in stock form

yes i understand that is why they are working this way. but should i then wire two separate relay harnesses one for each? or is there someway to intertwine the hids into one harness to still work properly. i'm not sure if that made sense.

your easiest bet is gonna be one harness for lo's and one for hi's, each with their own relay.

excellent reply. now my only other question would be do you have a diagram to build the relay harness? i know the bike has one on it but i do not have it near me to duplicate. i tried looking online but some were quite confusing and there were a few different ones it seemed. there were some put with diodes, some with capacitors. but there where no clear diagrams. any help? even just a quick write out if you have the time...thanks again

also. wire gauge for the harness...what gauge would you say to use? and i read that the insulation of the wire actually matters more than the gauge because of the high voltage...what would you say to use? thanks again.

As far as wire goes, I usually use 12 or 14g (either is fine, just use what you can get your hands on for the cheapest)
Ill try and find you a pic to make this a bit easier, but for your relay, here is what is attached to each pin:
30 - + from battery, with 25 or 30A fuse
85 - run a wire to the positive plug on the stock female h7 plug
86 - this is your ground. on a motorcycle, its probably best to just run it to your negative on the battery, since the frame is exposed, scraping paint off is just asking for rust down the road
87 - this is your + to the ballast
does this make sense or no?

ok i'm trying to picture this in my head. looks like a + to + boost relay right?...i think my only question is, poll 87 (+ to ballast) i will be wiring the relay directly to it correctly? (i.e. the relay poll 87 will be the only connection to the + ballast wire right?) and other question. the ground from the ballast, leave it going to the stock bulb plug? i think thats all the questions...hope they made sense...thanks a million
