I have a neon tube that I plan on using as a dome light. Im going to take the dome out and put the neon in. Before I start I want to make sure I have the right idea. Thier are two wires running to the dome light, a orange and a white. Should I cut the original light off, cut the cigarette adaptor off the neon, and then splice the wires together? I want to make sure im going about this the right way before i start cutting wires.

Sure, but cut the wires one at a time and test them for their polarity.

I would sugest testing at the plug with the bulb removed prior to cutting the wires, then splice the neon wires to the + and - respectivly.

this is what i did, except i did all my wiring under the dash and left the dome lights in tack then just taped into the wiring with the neon power cords. I have 8 neons in my mini van as the interior courtisy lights........bright!, blue as hell!

dude before you cut off the adapter, make sure there isn't any resistors or fueses in it. i know some of the neon lights need the plug to work.... check it out before you cut... good luck

Thanks for the advice guys. I hooked everything up today and it works great!! I love the fact that i can control it with the dome light switch and I dont have to deal with the cig lighter. The only thing I need to do is cover the hole in the headliner that the dome light left. For that im gonna get a piece of mirror, so the neon can shine off of it.
Next up will be a neon hooked up to the trunk light, so when I open the trunk the neon will come on and shine on my system.
Anyone else have any cool neon placement ideas?
