1996 intrepid parking lights problem

I have just purchased a 1996 intrepid. I tried to install my cd player in where the tape deck was, and it worked fine. Then when I started the car, the parking lights and the dash lights would not come on. I changed the fuse, which was blown, but the lights still will not come on. When I installed my cd player I heard a popping sound. Could anyone tell me if they know what the problem is and how to fix it? I would appreciate it very much.

disconnect you illumination wire(s) behind your headunit.  rplace fuse and try it again.  also ensure you grounded to ground and not through the illumination wire, which tests ground until you turn the lights on.If you say "I already know how", don't ask me a single question.
