Hi,

I'm thinking about installing computer cold cathodes in the footwells of my car. I've read one of the posts in the forum at https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=61377&PN=1 which explains how to install them by wiring the inverters to the cigarette lighter. Can you wire them directly to the battery? ie. Is the current the same at battery as it is at the cigarette lighter or the fuse box?

Thanks

no it is not the same the lighter can handle around 15amps,depending on what the neons pull for amps. i cant suggest nothing until i know there ratings. if they pull more than 20amps i would go to the battery fused less than 18" from the battery. give the spec. and we can help more. lol
JUST ONE MORE AMP!!!

The specs can be found at

http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english/spec_page/case_lights/spec_ak_188_bl.htm

which state that each inverter powers 2 x 12 inch cathodes and has a power rating of 3watts. Is this suitable for using in a car?
